A WW 11 Veteran suffering from Alzheimer's finds help in difficult times through his artist neighbor Dana. An unexpected incident forces their lives to change drastically.
Red Bird has screened at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, the West Chester International Film Festival, the Viña del Mar International Film Festival, at Flix, CineSpace, Hollywood , CA , The short won the Third Price, Short Subject at the “Best of Florida, Made in Florida Competition.
DEVIANT BORDERS (full length) - A touring production. Directed and performed by Dora Arreola and Andrea Assaf, with Maria Vale and Raquel as the male Chamuco. Produced at New World Art Center Massachusetts .
Through original poetry and movement, Fronteras Desviadas / Deviant Borders explores the feminine body, taboo and rites of passage in the border region. The production is the culmination of a six-month artistic exchange, supported by Cultural Contact (the U.S.-Mexico Foundation for Culture), between U.S. writer Andrea Assaf and Mexican director-choreographer Dora Arreola. The creative process investigated the maquiladora and sexual tourism industries, and included community workshops in Tijuana , San Diego , and Tecate, exploring the experiences of women in the region. A gringo tour guide known as El Chamuco leads us on a journey to “the other side” of sexuality, deviance, and culture.

Beginning from the calm last moments of Hank and Wendy's third date, Femme and Foe catapults into a moving portrait of traditional courtship focusing upon the seething emotions hidden beneath it. Reminiscence, sharing secrets and darker personas play pivotal roles as chit-chat degenerates into a gut-wrenching study of male/female dynamic.
